    Alicia has extensive practical experience in trade mark prosecution matters including conducting trade mark clearance, availability, registrability and infringement searches and attending to trade mark recordal, prosecution and maintenance matters in South Africa, Africa and various other territories throughout the world.

    Alicia has been involved with a number of trade mark infringement, trade mark opposition and trade mark cancellation proceedings, in South Africa, Africa and various other territories worldwide. Alicia has experience with proceedings before the Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa, Domain Name Dispute proceedings, Counterfeit Goods proceedings, labeling requirements.

    Alicia has negotiated successful IP related agreements on behalf of her clients in various industries ranging from banking, consumer goods, electronics and information technology and have been involved with IP related Due Diligence investigations as part of commercial transactions.

    Alicia has been involved with a number of successful outcomes before the Registrar of Trade Marks, The Companies Tribunal, The Gauteng Division of the High Court of South Africa, The Supreme Court of Appeal, as well as rulings issued by the ASA and The South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law (SAIIPL) as an accredited dispute resolution provider in terms of the .za Alternate Dispute Resolution Regulations.

    Alicia often gives in-house training to clients and has presented to students and members of the public with a particular interest in Intellectual Property Law and, in particular, Trade Mark Law.

     

    Alicia has written numerous articles which have been published in leading local and international publications such as Without Prejudice, ManagingIP and Mondaq.
