  Featured Act Sale of land & failure to comply with ALA
There have been few legislative provisions which have resulted in so much litigation as the provision contained in Section 2(1) of the Alienation of Land Act.

Briefly, this provision provides that no sale of land will be of any force or effect unless it is contained in a Deed of Sale signed by the parties thereto or their agents acting on their written authority. 		  Featured Case Law Morkel v. Federated Timbers (Pty) Limited & Another 2000 (1) SA 206
This case was important in that it held that an attempt to effect separate assignment of two associate marks was void despite the fact that, in casu, the association between the two trade marks was unwarranted. 		  Featured person Featured person
