New appointments at Adams & Adams with effect from 1 November 2006

Nicolette Koch joined Adams & Adams in January 2001 as an article clerk. She completed her BCom Law (cum laude) through University of Pretoria in 1996, her LLB through UNISA in 1999 and her BCompt through UNISA in 2002. In February 2002 she was admitted as an attorney and in February 2006 as a Conveyancer. She practises in the General Law Department of the firm specialising in general High Court and Magistrate Court's litigation and personal injury claims. Nicolette became an associate of the firm in September 2005 and was promoted to partner of the firm on 1 November 2006.
Gavin Marriott joined Adams & Adams in February 2006 as an associate, after spending four years working for Linklaters in London and Hong Kong. Gavin is a qualified South African patent attorney (2002) and a UK solicitor and has seven years experience in patent litigation and commercialisation, including the drafting of licence agreements and advising on IP aspects of corporate transactions. Gavin became a partner of the firm on 1 November 2006.
Carla Almeida-Grobler completed her LLB degree in 2000 and commenced her articles at Macintosh Cross and Farquharson in the same year. In 2002, she was admitted as an attorney and conveyancer. Carla joined Adams & Adams in 2004 and was admitted as a notary in 2006. She practises in the General Law department of the firm and deals with all aspects of conveyancing and property law. She became an associate of the firm on 1 November 2006.
Bilkis Rassool holds an LLB degree from The University of Natal-Durban. She joined Adams & Adams as a candidate attorney in 2002 and was admitted as an attorney in 2004. Bilkis practises in the Trade Mark Department of the firm specialising in recordal of ownership changes, amendment of trade marks, assignments, overseas and local trade mark renewals, licensing and registered user agreements. Bilkis was promoted to an associate of the firm on 1 November.
Dale Healy joined Adams & Adams in 2003 after completing his LLB degree (cum laude) at the University of Pretoria in 2002. He was admitted as an attorney in 2005 and as a Trade Mark Practitioner, through the South African Institute of Intellectual Property in this same year. From 1 November, he has been promoted to the level of associate with the firm and practises in the firm's trade mark litigation department.
Angela van den Berg completed her LLB (cum laude) through the University of Pretoria in 2002 and joined Adams & Adams in 2003. In February 2005 she was admitted as an attorney and qualified as a trade mark practitioner through the South African Institute of Intellectual Property in 2006. She practises in the Trade Mark Litigation Department of the firm specialising in trade mark, copyright and passing-off litigation, as well as company and close corporation name objections. Angela was promoted to an associate of the firm on 1 November.
Mandy Gordon commenced articles at Adams & Adams in 2003 after completing her BA LLB degree at Stellenbosch University. She was admitted as an attorney in 2005 and qualified as a Trade Mark Practitioner, through the South African Institute of Intellectual Property in 2006. Mandy has been promoted to associate with effect from 1 November 2006 and practices in the Trade Mark Litigation Department of the firm.
James Davies completed his BEng in 2000 and his LLB in 2003, and joined Adams & Adams in 2004. In May 2006, James was admitted as an attorney and was registered as a patent attorney in July 2006. He practices in the Patent Department of the firm, specialising in filing and prosecution of Patent and Registered Design applications. James has been promoted to the level of associate within the firm with effect of 1 November.
