Adams & Adams recently had the honour of hosting a delegation from the Japanese Group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI).

The General Manager of the International IP Legislation Research Office, Mr Keiji Iwata and the Project Manager, Mr Tsutomu Yoshioka, visited South Africa on a fact-finding mission.

The aim of the visit was to further the work of the association’s Japanese Group by gathering information on intellectual property systems in South Africa and other African countries. The delegation had lengthy discussions with Adams & Adams partners as well as with high-level representatives from the Companies and Intellectual Property Registration Office. They also visited Kenya, Cameroon and Egypt.

With more than 1 000 members, the Japanese group of AIPPI is the largest of all the national groups.
