Adams & Adams receives international publication award
8/10/2008

Adams & Adams was voted the Best Intellectual Property Practice in Africa for 2008 by the international publication New Economy.

New Economy Editor Jan Spiegel says award-giving bodies usually identify the world’s leading legal firms by criteria such as depth of practice, size of firm, international links and reputation.

“This, however, can skew the awards in favour of larger firms with global networks, leaving the excellent acquisition work of smaller, nationally based firms such as Adams & Adams unrecognised.

“The New Economy legal awards are carefully researched to redress the balance and ensure that the differences between large full-service firms and small independent firms are taken fully into account. This is not to favour the smaller firms, but to publicly recognise that the services they provide are every bit as valuable to their clients as those of their larger counterparts.”

The New Economy magazine is published in the United Kingdom by World News Media. The publication works with experts from leading technology think tanks, public and private sector organisations and academics from internationally esteemed educational and research centres. It publishes updated news, analysis of the issues of the day and precise explanations of emerging technologies.

The magazine is internationally distributed to 120 000 key decision makers in the academic, finance, science, politics and arts environment.

The key considering factors for the award are innovation and originality, project management ability, competitive edge, market leadership and geographical spread, and proof of development and continued progression.

According to New Economy Editor Jan Spiegel Adams & Adams beat stiff competition from other South African nominees like Spoor and Fisher and Bowman Gilfillan. The names of the various category winners will be published in the December 2008 - January 2009 issue of The New Economy.
