The South African business magazine Professional Management Review (PMR) conducted a second national law survey in the latter half of 1998, as a follow-up to its 1997 survey, by consulting 200 of South Africa's top companies. Adams & Adams received the highest rating for intellectual property law.

Likewise in the international arena, Adams & Adams was, for the second year running, rated first for patents and second place for trade marks in the 1998 survey by Managing Intellectual Property (MIP). The poll was conducted in 30 leading jurisdictions amongst 3000 senior IP practitioners in both industry and private practice.

The 1997 MIP award was handed over to Adams & Adams' Chairman, Charles Stewart, at a ceremony coinciding with the meeting of the International Trade Mark Association (INTA) in Boston, USA in May 1998.

This was the question which the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) had to answer in the matter of Delphisure Group Insurance Brokers Cape (Pty) Ltd vs Dippenaar and Others.
The first and second respondents in the appeal, Dippenaar and another, were wheat farmers in the Western Cape who instituted a claim against the appellant, Delphisure. The appellant was an insurance broker that sole crop insurance product known as Farmsure. 		  Featured person Featured person
