Launch of .eu internationalised domain names (IDNs)
From 10 December 2009, companies and private persons based in the European Union will be able to register .eu Internationalised Domain Names (IDNs).
IDNs are domain names that contain non-ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) characters. Computers only recognize numbers, so the ASCII code was developed as a sequential formula for representing characters as numbers. This is the most common code for text on computers. In common usage, ASCII means a text file that doesn’t include any formatting (plain text). |
