Costs

Our charges (including disbursements) depend on the nature and number of representations (ie drawings or photographs), as well as the extent of preparation of representations which is required from us. Our charges for preparing and filing an application for a registered design, for average cases, are about R3500 to R5000. Where further applications are filed for the same design, eg. in the other of part A or part F of the Register, or in further classes, the costs of the additional design applications are reduced.

Renewal Fees

Renewal fees on registered designs are payable on the third anniversary of the effective date and annually thereafter. A six month extension is obtainable for paying renewal fees, subject to the payment of a fine. Restoration of lapsed registration
