Vacation Programme
Adams & Adams has implemented, as part of our transformation process, a vacation programme for third and fourth year LLB students. The students who attend this programme are selected from the Integrated Bar Project, the Adams & Adams Bursary Scheme and direct applications.
Aims of the programme
The primary purpose of this programme is to provide an opportunity for the students and Adams & Adams to evaluate each other for consideration towards a future possible long-term relationship after the students' graduation from university.
We also wish to offer students practical work experience, as this provides them with the competencies necessary to compete for placement of articles.
Working of the programme
Our programme runs for a duration of two weeks, during the June / July university vacation period and provides the students with the following exposure to law and the practice of law:
- opportunities to experience the practical running of a legal practice
- shadowing a professional staff member of the firm
- law related assignments, which need to be researched and completed during the period
- lectures, presented in-house
- visits to courts and administrative / government offices
On completion of the programme, students and their supervisors are required to complete an assessment (on the programme and on each student respectively). This plays an important role in fulfilling the primary aim of the programme – identifying potential CAs for the firm.
The feedback from students is also used to ensure that the programme provides others with the expected exposure, whilst getting to know the firm.
