Adams & Adams has been widely recognised for its professional excellence. The firm has been rated highly for the past several years, both internationally and nationally, in the following surveys:

  • International surveys have been conducted every year between 1997 and 2006 in 30 leading jurisdictions by the Euromoney Publication Group through its well-known international publication Managing Intellectual Property. Three thousand senior IP professionals in both industry and private practice were polled. Adams & Adams has received a top rating for South Africa every year since 1997. In 2001 and 2002, Adams & Adams was rated first in both trade marks and patents. In 2005, the editor changed the format, whereby firms are now rated according to “tiers”. In both 2005 and 2006, Adams & Adams was rated in the first tier for patents. In 2005, the firm was also rated in the first tier in trade marks. The 2006 results are awaited in the latter regard.
  • National surveys have been conducted between 1997 and 2006 among 200 top companies in South Africa by the business publication Professional Management Review. The survey covered legal services in various fields, and Adams & Adams has been rated the top firm specialising in intellectual property. On the basis of the 2001 and 2002 surveys, Adams & Adams received Diamond awards – the highest award on the basis of overall performance – for its services in this area of law. In other years, the firm has received Golden Arrow awards.
  • Since 1999, the firm has been nominated as one of South Africa’s Top National Companies. The publication SA’s Top National Companies has grown from the original SA’s Top 300 Companies: National Edition. As with Top 300, companies are extensively researched and go through a qualification process in order to be nominated for entry in this leading business-to-business annual trade and investment directory. Following research into 4 000 of South Africa’s companies and organisations across 150 industry sectors, we have once again been identified as a leader and top performer on our record of performance excellence over the past year.
  • In 2004 and 2005, Magnet Communications, a Swedish-based company, undertook a survey on university campuses around the country in conjunction with the South African Graduate Recruiters Association. Their aim was to identify, in the views of students, their “employers of choice” in South Africa. This survey was undertaken at 19 universities and close to 10 000 students took part. The respondents were students from the science & engineering, commerce, law and humanities faculties throughout South Africa, who were asked a range of questions about which employers in their particular fields of study are regarded as the best employers in the country. The criteria included items such as salary, benefits offered, training, retention and long-term opportunities, international exposure etc. Adams & Adams was voted the “number one legal employer” in the country in both these years.
