Charne is accredited by the Green Building Council SA and with this knowledge as background, takes responsibility for the firm’s Green Committee. She developed a dedicated organic spa, which received both the prestigious Les Nouvelles Award for Unique Spa and an award for excellence by the Mpumalanga Institute for Architects in recognition of the sustainable design features incorporated in the building complex. Charne has been invited to speak on the subject of green business practices at conferences directed at the wellness industry and is the author of a book dealing with issues concerning sustainability, titled the Green Spa Guide. She received the Les Nouvelles visionary award for her work in this regard in 2010.
